For hygiene reasons, we're unable to accept returns for opened Birkenstock Care Essentials products. If you have any concerns about quality, or experience an allergic reaction, please contact our Customer Service team. They will be happy to assist you.

Our products are safe for use during pregnancy, except for the Relief Lotion for Tired Leg & Foot, which contains eucalyptus and should be avoided during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Please check product packaging.

Birkenstock Care Essentials are your complete foot care routine in three steps:
Relax: begin with our Relaxing Bath Salts to unwind and soften your skin ready for Step 2.
Exfoliate: use our Smoothing Pumice Stone and Exfoliating Foot Scrub to remove dead skin cells and prepare the skin to better absorb products.
Care: complete your routine with our Nourishing Foot Balm, Relief Lotion for Tired Leg & Foot and/or Comforting Dry Oil to provide long-lasting care and comfort.

Our products are put through rigorous testing by independent institutes to scientifically prove their efficacy. To make sure testing is impartial, panels of at least 30 people used Birkenstock Care Essentials for at least four weeks, with unbranded packaging to ensure zero bias.

Developed from 100% recycled glass, our Pumice Stone has no sharp edges or fragments of metal that can damage skin. This glass actually has antibacterial properties, which means that no microorganisms can survive on its surface, making it cleaner and safer to use for longer.

Products should be kept frost-free and out of direct sunlight. It's best to avoid storing them permanently under 10°C (50°F) or above 25°C (77°F). The natural oils in our Comforting Dry Oil can crystallize in colder temperatures. If this happens, simply keep the product at room temperature and it will return to its clear state with absolutely no effect on the oil itself.

One of our key principles in developing Birkenstock Care Essentials was to prioritize minimal, sustainable, and highly functional packaging. To uphold this commitment, we proudly offer:
- Tubes made from 100% recycled and recyclable aluminum, for minimal environmental impact and maximum product protection
- Bottles made from 100% recyclable glass, promoting sustainability and reducing waste
- Folding boxes certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), guaranteeing they come from sustainable forest management practices

If you experience any allergic reaction to our products please stop using them immediately and get in touch with our Customer Service team. If irritation continues, we recommend consulting a doctor as soon as possible.

We only use ingredients in our formulations that are safe for use on people. Products are all tested for skin tolerance and safety, but have not been specifically developed or tested for children under the age of 15. Our Relief Lotion for Tired Leg & Foot contains eucalyptus, which is not recommended for children. For detailed information, please check the product packaging.

Birkenstock Care Essentials do contain essential oils, which can be considered allergens. These oils might be used either as ingredients or as part of our natural fragrances. For more detailed information, check the packaging of each product.

Our products are never tested on animals. We're committed to ensuring that every Birkenstock Care Essential is developed and brought to market without any animal testing.

All Birkenstock Care Essentials are vegan. This means they don't include any animal-derived ingredients like gelatin, cholesterol, or collagen, nor do they have animal by-products such as honey, beeswax, or milk.

Birkenstock Care Essentials are all either COSMOS Natural or COSMOS Organic certified. This ensures that our products meet strict standards for:
- Promoting organic agriculture
- Respecting biodiversity
- Using resources responsibly
- Employing clean manufacturing practices that prioritize human and environmental health
To achieve COSMOS Organic certification, at least 20% of any leave-on product (excluding water) must be organic, and at least 95% of the organic ingredients must meet organic farming standards. Our products are not only made with 100% natural ingredients, they're completely free from paraffin, silicones, parabens, synthetic fragrances or pigments, PEGs, animal testing and genetic engineering.

When sealed, our products have a shelf-life of 36 months. Once opened, look for the little open jar icon on the packaging - that number tells you how many months each product can be used after opening.

Almost all Birkenstock Care Essentials are proudly made in Germany, with the exception of our Smoothing Pumice Stone, which is produced elsewhere in the EU.
