BIRKENSTOCK Professional Range at A Dinner for Scott:
Supporting Chefs, Supporting Futures

Honouring Scott Richardson with Culinary Purpose

Every year, A Dinner for Scott fundraiser brings together some of New Zealand’s finest chefs and culinary students to honour the legacy of Scott Richardson - a passionate chef and educator who inspired countless people in the hospitality industry. The event not only celebrates Scott’s memory but also raises vital funds for scholarships, supporting the next
generation of culinary talent.

This year, Birkenstock was proud to be an event partner, stepping into the kitchen alongside the chefs in a different way: by equipping them with new pairs of Birkenstock Professionals footwear - specifically the much-loved Boston Pro and Profi Birki styles.

The Chefs

The event was led by an outstanding lineup of chefs, each bringing unique expertise and inspiration:

Javier Bassaletti

Known for his refined palate and passion for mentorship, Javier created a Fish Ceviche with Lime and Coriander and Beef Croquette. His own culinary journey began as a student in Scott’s catering class at Southland Boys’ High School, sparking a lasting connection to Scott’s legacy.

The Flow of the Event

The journey began with the team of chefs travelling through Southland to hand-select fresh produce, celebrating the region’s rich food culture. Each chef drew inspiration from their own experiences in culinary school, crafting dishes that spoke to both heritage and creativity.

Students were then divided into teams, each mentored by one of the six leading chefs. Together, they prepared six unique dishes, which came together in a memorable fundraising dinner where all dishes were served to guests. The experience not only celebrated local produce but also embodied the values of learning, growth, and collaboration that Scott championed.

Birkenstock Professional in Action

While chefs poured heart and soul into their dishes, Birkenstock ensured they had the comfort and support needed to stay focused in the kitchen. Each chef wore a pair of Boston Pro or Profi Birki style icons in the Birkenstock Professional range.

Boston Pro
